Stakes (Extrapolating)
Extrapolated notes — not a sports manual. Sport at École Polytechnique is not decorative: it is schedule discipline and habits (consistency, load management, teamwork) that help you get through a dense master’s (courses + projects + internships).
The curriculum wiki lists sports twice: among the mandatory non-scientific units of M1 · Period 1, and again in the M2 transverse block, where humanities, languages and sports share 8 ECTS. One shared framing page is enough; concrete activities depend on the semester’s sport offer.
Place in the 2-year path
M1: from P1 during the ML/DL ramp-up. M2: continuity through LLM / Graph AI specialization and the transverse project. A counterweight to exam and deliverable crunch weeks.
Transferable skills
No direct “AI research” link — rather stamina skills: prioritization, recovery, teamwork, stress management. In research or final internships, sustainable pace matters as much as a benchmark.
How to approach it
- Treat slots as non-negotiable in revision / project planning.
- Connect physical load and cognitive load: same recovery logic.
- Put the slots on the same calendar as the track’s team projects. The Year 1 project these notes propose (six weeks across the end of Period 2) and the build weeks of the Year 2 transverse project are the weeks when sport is easiest to drop.
- Carry the team-sport habits over to those projects: clear roles, showing up, a short debrief after each match or milestone. This is the teamwork side of objective O7.
Extrapolating Shared M1/M2 page for this repo; the real sport offer is that of the campus / semester.
